New Book: Land Rover 60 Years Of Adventure!

land-rover-sixty-years-of-adventure.jpgThe original Land Rover was unveiled in 1948 and 60 years on the utilitarian Defender is instantly recognisable as its descendant. Land Rover has expanded its range over the years with the introduction of the Range Rover, Discovery and Freelander, and today the Solihull marque is a premium brand in the market place.

This beautifully produced book tells the full story of all Land Rover models through a wealth of stunning colour images, many previously unpublished, with spectacular photography of Land Rovers in action around the world, from Iceland to Australia and all points in between, including adventures and expeditions such as the Camel Trophy and G4 Challenge. There is also a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at Land Rover’s Solihull production line.

The author covers the history of Land Rover, from early Series I–III vehicles through to the latest Defenders, featuring images of concours examples as well as ancient workhorses. He also covers the Range Rover through the ages, from the original 1970 model to the very latest supercharged luxury versions, as well as the enormously successful Discovery and Freelander, Europe’s best-selling 4x4 for almost ten years.

The Special Vehicles chapter shows the sheer diversity of specialist Land Rover conversions produced over the years, from Ambulances to the SAS ‘Pink Panther’ desert-combat vehicles. Finally, the author gives a glimpse of things to come with stunning pictures of the very latest Land Rover concept vehicles.

Author Nick Dimbleby is a well-respected professional photographer who has undertaken considerable work for Land Rover over the past seven years, but as a Land Rover enthusiast has been photographing the vehicles for 20 years. He lives near Silverstone in Northamptonshire.

Nick Dimbleby will be doing a Talk & Book Signing on Saturday 3rd May at the Land Rover - 60 Years Anniversary on the 3rd - 4th May at the Heritage Motor Centre, Gaydon.
